2010 Harley-Davidson Touring First Ride

When you hear the name Harley-Davidson what do you think of? More than anything the answer matches the age of the person you ask. If you’re an older rider than there is a fair chance that you’ll feel this motorcycle marque is the de facto motorcycling standard. But for younger folks, the H-D brand usually congers up images of under-performing motorcycles built more for posing in the parking lot than ripping around on the streets. After spending two days at the controls of Harley-Davidson’s 2010 model offerings, though, I have to admit there is something more to the brand than I pessimistically presumed. One of the coolest things about this coming year’s line-up is the broad range of motorcycling options afforded by the folks in Milwaukee.

The 2010 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Limited bundles many popular options together and adds a bigger 103 cubic-inch Twin Cam engine. But is it built to shred?
Harley-Davidson Touring Ride Review
This is without question the coolest Harley-Davidson motorcycle offering for 2010. Harley calls it the Road Glide Custom. We call it Street Crusher.

Just how many motorcycles you ask? Thirty four. Add to the mix the various options and colorways, not to mention the hundreds of pages of factory performance parts and accessories, and you’ve got virtually limitless choices. From the affordable and newbie friendly $6999 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 to the VRSC line of liquid-cooled power cruisers, for this coming year there is something for any would-be motorcyclist. They even offer hopped-up, pre-customized machines straight from the factory. (Make sure to check out the 2010 Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) First Ride article to see how they perform. Additionally, be sure to check out the 2010 Harley-Davidson Motorcycles First Look article to discover the individual changes to the Harley’s standard production line-up.)

Out of its entire fleet, H-D’s touring motorcycles are not only the most comfortable to ride, but also the most fun – especially on curvy pavement. For 2010 the touring line grows by three bikes: the Electra Glide Ultra Limited, the Road Glide Custom, and the Street Glide Trike. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to ride the Street Glide Trike, however, we will be riding on three-wheels in the future, so for now we will discuss the aforementioned two.
